Name: Kirk Hitachiin
Gender: Male
Age: 17
Appearance:
Kirk is mainly noticed for his height more than anything. At six foot four he tends to tower over most of his friends and family. He has a swimmers build (i.e. toned, but slender) and tends to excel in the sport. Despite him being a talented swimmer he generally doesn't fit into the whole "jock persona" when given the choice he would much rather be in music class playing the piano than hanging around with the "Jock Squad". He has short black hair run through with streaks of white, he enjoys dyeing his hair diffrent colors though he's always careful to keep his original hair color in there somewhere. He currently enjoys his black and white hair because it reminds him of music notes on sheet music. If one can take their eyes off of his strange hair they can notice deep grey eyes, his mother always tells him that this is because he has too much water in his personality and he should marry someone with too much wood in theirs so they can balance one another out.
Personality: Generally anti-social except for a few choice occassions where he actively tries to make friends. When people get to know him they genrally find that he's actually quite talkative and kind. He's generally the one to keep a cool head in an argument and has been given the term "Peacemaker" by his group of friends. He is, however, easily worried by small details that could go awry.
History: Born on March twelfth he is now seventeen years old. His mother and father met by chance really. They called it love at first sight, but it was more of a love at first "stalk". His mother had seen his father once when she and her friends had been walking through the Tokyo shopping district. As they passed one another on the sidewalk their eyes met. Afterwards they began asking questions about one another to their friends to see if they knew the person they had saw. At one point it got to the point where they would waut outside of eachother's apartments on the same nights, waiting to catch a glimpse of the other. Eventually they ran into eachother after their late night watches, and they hit it off. After that it's pretty much history. They married and had Kirk's older sister Minji, and then Kirk a year later.
Kirk's father owns a specialty store which specializes in snack foods from all over the world, though he's always sure to keep hi son's favorite trea, pocky, in stock. As such Kirk can always be seen with a box of pocky in varying flavors, his current obsession is seaweed, but he expects it will return to the standard vanilla by next week.
His family still lives in Tokyo, the family's living arrangements can be found above the store. Kirk is currently a student and works on the weekends for his parents.
Digimon: Paomon - Shaomon - Labramon
Digimon’s Personality: Labramon is, genrally speaking, down to earth. He doesn't tend to flip out ovr small detils unless it's a dire situation (or a squirrel is nearby). When Kirk starts to worry Labramon always manages to calm him down. Kirk's kindness has definately rubbed off onto labramon, but he's even taken it a step further. He tends to pick up on an individual's emotions and responds accordingly. Of course this could be said for many real dogs as well. His only wish is that he and Kirk remain friends for the rest of their lives and he will do anything in his power to keep Kirk out of harm's way.
-----------------
Ugh. I'm so bored.
The day had gone by so far without incident. He had woken up at exactly seven thirty this morning, quite early for him on a saturday, and had gone through his routine. Of course Minji had hogged all the hot water in the bathroom giving him a cold shower, he'd have to kill her later for that. Then his parents had left him with the least amount of toothpaste possible, both had a habit of brushing once before they ate breakfast and once after they ate breakfast, personally Kirk didn't see why they couldn't just brush once like a normal person. Before heading back to his room to put on his clothes he quickly dashed down stairs to grab a box of pocky from the shelf. Of course the store hadn't been opened yet as Minji had plans with her girlfriends and his parents had gone out for coffee nd the like.
He had been given instructions to open the store at exactly ten, and it was only eight so he had time to spare. Quickly running back up stairs in his towel he slipped down the thing hallways and into his room. He really enjoyed his room it was simple, yet practical. The room was mainly dominated by his tatami paltform style bed. On top of it was a futon matress and a few blankets. Of course it was a rather large mess because of his recent waking. Next to his bed was a low table upon which rested his cell phone, mp3 player, and laptop. On the other side of the room was his closet which held his school uniforms, shoes, socks, and misc clothing items. Of course he didn't tend to venture into it during thw weekends as he didn't really have any reason to as his favorite outfit was always thrown around on the floor anyways, but he did have to get boxers he supposed. After picking a rather bright pair of the color turquoise he began to hunt for his other clothes.
His long sleeved striped shirt was hung over the doorknob, his jeans were hidden under hus matress, the the grey vest with the faux fur trim on the hood was actually in his closet. Good lord what was his room coming to?
In any case now that he was fully dressed he quickly made his bed so that he could at least download music in relative comfort, it was now eight thirty. He still had more than enough time. He opened up his laptop and entered his password, he usually changed it every so often to keep Minji from using it without permission. It wasn't like he could be blackmailed with anything on there, but he hated looking at his internet history and seeing so many fashion sites, it was quite disgusting. He plugged his mp3 into his laptop and begn connecting to the internet. Today ws the perfect day to do some music downloading. He wanted that one song he had heard the other day, what was it called? Oh yeah Fire by 2ne1, sure it was in korean, but he could easily get the english and japanese lyrics from the internet. He watched as the window came up and he navigated to his favorite music sharing site.
Apparently the track was somewhat new due to the Band only having just started something of their debut. So in turn it was hard to find of high quality, but he did find it eventually. He watched the loading bar with mild interest and glanced warily at the clock, nine fifteen pretty soon he'd have to open up the store. He'd love to have the track on his mp3 while he did it. His attention slowly drfited back to the loading, but it had mysteriously disappeared all together and in it's stead was a pop up which read 'Error 00140123'. He sighed audibly and nearly threw the laptop across the room.
He quickly did a virus scan and luckily nothing had invaded his computer. In any case it was time to put on his slippers and open the store. Just as he was about to open the door something in his peripheral vision made him pause for a moment. A bright light was now emanating from his mp3 player. d**n the virus had by passed his computer entirely and had gone straight to the mp3. He quickly looked at the screen and saw nothing but a pure white screen with grey colored 0's and 1's flickering across the screen.
"God dang it!"
But there was still something strange about the screen. He could swear there was an object on the screen that was seemingly growing larger. The light was stronger now than it was before and he watched as the beam became more focused and two specks flaoted up through the mp3's screen and into the light growing ever larger. The larger object was vauely egg shaped and had pink markings on the shell. It was at least the size of a medium sized summer watermelon. The second looked something like a tamagotchi he had when he was younger had the same button configuration and everything.
"Terrifying, but nifty."
He took the tamagotchi-esque iem and quickly stuffed it in his pocket as he took the watermelon sized egg in his arm. As soon as he removed the egg the light faded back into the mp3 player form whence it came. He slowly put the egg onto his futon matress and stared at it for a good while, but then he quickly looked at the clock. It was now nine fifty-nine and he only had one minute to open the store.
Wrapping the egg in several blankets he quickly shot down to the store front and flipped the sign from "Sorry, we're closed." to "Yes, we're open." why on earth he had waited so long to do a simple task was foggy at best. He took the keys from his pocket and unlocked the door with some kind of finesse. How one opens a door with finesse is unknown, but he did it. Just in time as well as his parent could be seen walking down the street as he began to sweep. Needless to say he had narrowly escaped the righteous fury his mother and father were capable of pouring down on him.
After handing the keys off to his parents and bidding them a quick farewell he ran out of the store to go and hang out with his friends and tell them of what had happened earlier this morning. After a full day of of being told that he was insane and probably dreamt he dragged himself back into his room to stare at the watermelon sized egg again.
He took the digital pet that had come with the egg. It was a sort of creamish color and the trim was the same color as the pink markings on the egg, maybe they were a set? In any case he was too tired to actually ponder it. Wordlessly he stripped down and put on his pajamas and crawled into bed holding the watermelon egg to his chest.
"I can't believe they all told me I was crazy, you're just as solid as me."
He had thought his friends would have understood, they'd never thought he was crazy before, why shoudl that change now? Sure they had all heard the urban legends of creatures coming out of your monitor, but he'd never expected it to happen with him. Even then he would have thought that someone would have believed him, ayone would have done.
He quickly fell asleep cradling the egg dreaming of sweet nothings.
It was at this time that the egg itself began to go through a transformation. The egg shone like a star fallen to earth, but the light did not wak Kirk. It's shape began to meld and change until in the boys arms was now a sleeping creature wthat was slightly round in appearance with pink ears. It too slept listening to the beating of the boy's heart.
The next morning Kirk awoke with a start and noted the disappearance of the egg. He looked beneath his bed to see if it had rolled beneath it in the middle of the night. He was somewhat frazzled by the houdini act it had performed during the night. And that was when he heard the gentle snoring coming from beneath the clothes which he had discarded last night. With some trepidation he removed the clothes to discover the creature which had developed over night.
He noted that the creature lacked any anatomy whatsoever, but he did have to admit that it looked something like a dog. It had to be the ears which made him think that.
As he studied the creature it began to tir until small beady black eyes were staring straight back at him. This would be what one would call a "D'awwwwww" moment as the small creature hopped over to Kirk and rubbed up against his leg. He wondered silently what it was exactly that...things ate. Of course he'd have to try his favorite snack first, pocky. He tentatively reached for his side table and grabbed a package of vanilla pocky. He picked one of the pieces and slowly held it in front of the small creature and watched as it sniffed.
When the creature was satisfied that it was food a mouth seemingly half the size of the creature devoured the stick of pocky, and being rather greedy obviously wanted more. Oddly enough Kirk smiled at the little creature, so they shared something in common.
After ten boxes of pocky, nearly depleting Kirk's store he had even eaten the seaweed pocky which Kirk was sure only he enjoyed, the creature had changed once again during the night. He now looked even more like a canine than the prior day.
"Hello."
Kirk nearly did a double take, had that creature just spoken.
"Did you just speak to me?"
"Indeed, in any case my name is Shaomon, yesterday I was paomon, but trough a process known as digivolution..."
"You changed."
Sp does that mean that all the rumors of digimon had been true? If he really repeated the word greymon five times at midnight one of the creatures would eat his face? Well that was slightly terrifying to say the least. To think he now had staring back at him a sentient being which had come directly through his own mp3 player, it was almost too much to handle.
"Yes, you seem rather knowledgeable about this subject."
"Well there are rumors about your kind floating around."
What if the government wanted to run tests on him? He wouldn't let them tke Shaomon away now, her remembered rumor about these creatures partnering with a human of their choice, and those chosen were meant for something great. This would break the boring day-to-day life he had been living for so long. Sure he loved his mother and father, hell he even loved Minji, but this was too good to pass up.
"Then I suppose you know what must be done?"
"Yes, but not now."
"Of course."
"But, first I have to go to school."
His normally outrageous hair was somewhat subdued and slicked down now and he was wearing the typical black high school uniform for his high school for boys, the girls wore something akin to sailor outfits. His school was retro like that. He sighed slightly as he listened to Shaomon rustle about in his backpack. Last night they had decided that calling him by a diffrent name each time he digivolved would become something of a nuisance, so they would simply call him Toma. He had enjoyed the name Toma immensely, something about it sounded heroic or some such. Yeah it was really heroic the way he was rustling around his backpack eating whatever pocky he had stashed away for the day.
"Toma! Cut that out, I fed you before we left! What if someone hears you?"
All that could be heard was muffled munching and a reply on the lines of 'You worry too much Kirk' and it was true. Despite his somewhat confident sppearance on the outside, on the inside he was tormented by chronic worrying on a day to day basis. It was really quite silly as he had nothing at all to orry about. He did after all look something like a dog, and it wasn't as if his school had a no pets allowed sort of rule.
The day passed rather uneventfully. Math was boring, as was history. Things picked up in science when it was revealed they would be mking things explode, which was always a crowd pleaser. And after all the classes of the day had finished it was his class's turn to sweep the hallways. He took the majority of the work by himself, despite being sociable it didn't necessarily mean that he liked to work in groups. Besides it gave him a chance to give Toma something of a tour of his school grounds.
He allowed Toma outside of the backpack and showed the entire school. He pointed out the soccer field, of course it was somewhat damp to play soccer right now as it had rained recently. He then showed him the pool and laughed when Toma's eyes lit up. He stated that he would like to learn how to swim, but once again as it had rained recently the pool was somewhat frigid.
And so the week passed with ease.
On tuesday he took Toma swimming for he first time, he did rather well considering it was his first time out. Then again the entire 'dog' thing might have had something to do with that. Upon getting out of the pool Toma stated he'd like to do it again at some point. Wednesday they played a little soccer, unfortunately Toma was not as good as he had been at swimming. When thursday rolled around he took Toma to watch the sun set at the tokyo tower. It was breath taking the way the red and orange ruled over the skies. He wondered how long it would be now before they had to leave. Finally as friday came they travelled with Kirk's family to Osaka, of course Toma had been concealed within a pack. They had spent the majority of the night tasting several diffrent vendor's tokoyaki. They found that the simplest stall had the best stuff and proceeded to order several more plates of it.
It was the start of a great friendship.
"Kirk, wake up please."
Kirk blinked blearily as he awoke to a voice unknown to him. As his vision was restored and the veil of sleep was lifted he noted that Toma had once again changed form. In the stead of the tiny blob like shamon now sttod a large labrador-like creature. Apparently he had once again changed during the night. Kirk sighed slightly and smiled at Toma. He had known that this time would come eventually and he had packed in advance. Within his backpack were several boxes of pocky, bottled water, two blankets, and a pair of black and white goggles ad to keep anything out of his eyes. It also contained the miscellaneous essentials for travel such as toothpaste, bandaids, pain killers, etc.
"Good morning Toma, what's the plan for today?"
"We're leaving."
"I thought you'd say that, so I packed in advance."
"Is there pocky in there?"
"But of course."
"You know me too well, should we leave now?"
"Hold on let me shower first."
And so he started off on the same routine he had done the morning that Toma had arrived, but it was diffrent this morning. The shower was extremely warm and comfortable, the towels were freshly washed. His parents had bought a new tube of toothpaste the morning before. He had also thought to wash his favorite clothes the night before so he put them on rather wuickly. He also put his converse on, something that he didn't normally do inside his home, and wrote a small note to his family.
'I have something to do, I love you all so much it hurts, but I have to do this. And yes Minji it was me who broke your hair straightener last month.'
"How very considerate of you, Kirk."
"I know right? I really do have to do this."
"I know, ytou want to help me simply because you can. And that dear boy is why I love you and I want to be friends the rest of our lives."
Kirk smiled and he slowly turned on his laptop and watched as once again the white light from his mp3 player filled his room. He wasn't so much scared as worried about his parents, what would they do without him. He was sure Minji would pick up the slack in the store with him gone, and school was the furthest thing from his mind. He had to go now or else he'd never leave. With goggles placed firmly over his eyes, digivice, and pack in hand he approached the mp3 player.
"Okay Toma, I'm ready."
"Then let us go."
In a blinding flash both were swallowed by the light which retreated and finally disappeared within the mp3.
